Who can Apply
All property owners or occupiers of traditional buildings situated within the Elgin High Street Conservation Area are eligible to apply for grant assistance. Occupiers must receive written consent from the property owner prior to applying for the grant.
How to Apply
The application process for all strands of work i.e. small grants, shopfront improvement or priority buildings, consists of two stages. First, applicants complete a simple ‘Expression of Interest’ form. If the planned project work fits within the criteria of the scheme, then applicants will be invited to develop a full application. The Elgin CARS Officer will be happy to discuss project work, advise and provide guidance at all stages of the application process.
Stage 1: Submitting an expression of interest
You are invited to complete a simple ‘Expression of Interest’ form to outline your project. The information provided will enable us to ensure that your project fits with the criteria of the programme. A preliminary meeting will then be arranged between you and the CARS Officer to discuss eligibility and extent of works, and to explain the grant application process. This aims to help you towards making a strong application that fits the eligibility criteria and will save you time and effort prior to completing a full application. Expression of Interest forms can be submitted at any date.
Stage 2: Developing a Full Application
If your project meets with the scheme criteria, you will then be invited to submit a full application. The Elgin CARS Officer will be available to advise you through this process.
