Application Submission and Decision
Once complete, your application can be submitted to the Elgin CARS Management Group for assessment via the Elgin CARS Officer. The Management Group will meet every two months to consider applications and you will be informed of the submission deadline when invited to complete a full application. You will be notified of the decision by letter and, if successful, a Letter of Grant Offer including any special conditions and recommendations will be issued for acceptance by signature and return to the Elgin CARS Officer. No grant related work should start before approval, in writing, has been received.
The Management Group will consider applications having regard to:
– The Elgin High Street Conservation Appraisal and Management Plan
– Advice from Historic Scotland
– The anticipated impact on the character of the Conservation Area from an award
– Willingness demonstrated by the applicant to part-fund (50%) and implement appropriate works
Projects that are awarded a grant should be completed within six months of the assistance being confirmed. Thereafter, they will be subject to review and grant may be reallocated following due notice. Grant funding will be released on submission of receipted invoices for eligible works that have been carried out. For larger projects, it may be possible to arrange staged payments.
