Seven grants totalling £107,419.46 have been approved this year so far and several more large applications are expected.
There is a wave of development activity in the pipeline which is very encouraging. 186-188 High Street has been purchased with plans for residential development whilst retaining retail space, 6 cottages will be renovated in Victoria Close, 3 flats will be for sale above the old Santander Bank on the corner of Commerce Street, an office hub is currently being created about Ladbrokes, office accommodation will be created above Costa Coffee, and the old Greek restaurant will be converted into 5 flats. Elgin CARS will be able to provide 50% funding towards external repairs which is being seen as added incentive.
In addition, the muckle cross will be restored, work on upgrading the closes will be starting and 17 of the 30 properties surveyed are intending to carry out works as part of the Maintenance Scheme.
Elgin CARS will also be helping to co-ordinate Doors Open Day in Moray this year, more information to follow…
