The Historic Scotland Technical Seminar will now be held on two separate days. The first day will be held on Thursday 4th June in the Longmore Hall, Keith and the second day will be held on Thursday 3rd September in the Elgin Library Gallery.
Elgin and Keith CARS are hosting the event which Historic Scotland has kindly offered to run as part of the CARS schemes. All those who own, work with, or live in traditional buildings are encouraged to attend. This is a great opportunity to meet the experts and increase your understanding of traditional buildings. Both days are free to attend and will include a light buffet lunch.
Day One Programme
– Join various speakers from Historic Scotland and RCAHMS
09:30 Listed buildings and conservation areas, legal status, restrictions etc.
10.30 Retaining and enhancing traditional character in a conservation area
11.30 Traditional signwriting (Robin Abbey, sign writer)
13:00 Researching and recording traditional buildings
14:00 Surveying traditional buildings
Day Two Programme
– Join Moses Jenkins from Historic Scotland
09:30 Maintaining traditional buildings
10:30 Repairs to traditional masonry (including lime mortar, harling etc.)
11:30 Repairs to roofs
13:00 Other repair techniques (plasterwork, metal timber etc.)
14:00 Sourcing and specifying traditional skills
