Welcome to Elgin Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme
The historic fabric of Elgin High Street is a valuable asset worth looking after.
Elgin Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) aims to inspire and motivate collective action to transform the city centre.
The main focus of the scheme will be:
Restoring and enhancing the built heritage of Elgin High Street
Increasing skills in traditional repair and maintenance methods
Creating interest in and connection with local heritage
Helping to achieve the objectives of the Castle to Cathedral to Cashmere Experience
It is hoped that by March 2018, the distinctive, traditional character of the buildings and streetscape will be attracting more visitors, businesses and residents, helping to boost the local economy and that local people will understand the value of their heritage, and take pride in promoting it.
This £3.3 million scheme will run until March 2018 and will be overseen by a Management Group which includes Elgin BID, Elgin Fund, Elgin Benevolent Trust, Moray College UHI and local councillors.
